The wrestlers have practiced extensively for the World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers. The wrestlers who will finish in the first three positions in the competition will win the Paris quota for their country.

The World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers is being held in Istanbul, Turkey from 9 to 12 May. For this, the team was selected by taking trials at Sonipat SAI on 10th and 11th March.

Even after selection in the competition, the national camp could not be organised. Due to this, most of the wrestlers have worked hard to compete at their own level.

Naveen of village Pugthala, Deepak Punia of village Chhara and Sujeet of Imlota have practiced in Russia. There is a lot of hope from Deepak Punia, Aman Sehrawat, Naveen and Sunil in the Olympic qualifier competition.

This is the last chance for the 14-member Indian wrestling team to get an Olympic quota. Wrestlers will be able to represent the country in the Paris Games in the same weight category in which they get the quota for the competition.

There will be three Paris quotas available in each weight category in Istanbul. In this, along with the two wrestlers who reach the finals, the wrestler who stands third will also be able to win the Olympic quota for his country.

So far four women have won Olympic quota for the country. Among these, Vinesh Phogat, Anshu Malik and Ritika had got quota in the Asian Olympic Qualifier competition held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in the month of April. They had given quota in 50 kg, 57 kg and 76 kg.

Whereas Antim Panghal had got the quota in 53 kg category by winning the bronze medal in the World Championship 2023.
