Arsenal's first serious title challenge in years came that season. In a must-win game to strengthen their title chances, a draw with Southampton sparked a run of poor results that ultimately cost them the Premier League title. Southampton started strong, with Alcaraz scoring in the first minute and former Arsenal player Theo Walcott doubling the lead by the 14th minute. Martinelli responded in the 20th minute, but Southampton added another in the 66th through Caleta-Car. Fortunately for Arsenal, late goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka salvaged a point for the team.
