ISL 2024-25 | Alaeddine Ajaraie sets record for being the first-ever player to score in first 7 ISL games
Alaeddine Ajaraie sets a new ISL record by becoming the first player to score in his first 7 ISL games, surpassing Elano, who has held the record since 2014.
NorthEast United FC's forward Alaeddine Ajaraie has reached a special milestone as he has set a new record by becoming the first-ever player to score in his first 7 Indian Super League appearances.
The Moroccan forward has broken the previous record of Brazilian forward Elano Blumer who scored in his first 6 ISL games for Chennaiyin FC in the inaugural 2014 season.
The 31-year-old Moroccan laced up his boots in NorthEast United FC's opening match against Mohammedan SC and he has not stopped since. Ajaraie scored the only and the winning goal in the dying minutes against Mohammedan to snatch all three points for NorthEast.
Alaeddine Ajaraie scored a goal and provided his second assist of the campaign against FC Goa in a 3-3 showdown in the fourth game. In their fifth game, NorthEast lost by 2-3 to Chennaiyin FC but Alaeddine kept his scoring streak intact by scoring a penalty in the game.
The Moroccan magician equaled Elano's record in the sixth match of NorthEast against Jamshedpur FC where Alaeddine scored a brace and also made an assist as NorthEast thumped Jamshedpur by 5-0.
Now, Alaeddine Ajaraie holds the record for scoring in the first 7 ISL games after he scored another brace and also made an assist in NorthEast's 3-2 victory against Odisha FC on 3 November 2024.
Alaeddine Ajaraie has not only broken the record but also is leading the charts of ISL 2024-25. He has scored 9 goals in 7 matches which is by far the most in ISL 2024-25. Now the Moroccan is leading in the ISL 2024-25 Golden Boot race. Alaeddine is also leading the charts with 4 assists so far, joint-most with Greg Stewart of Mohun Bagan SG.
Our Moroccan forward Alaaeddine Ajaraie was awarded with the arm-band for being the Golden Boot leader and a frame for the ‘Fans Goal of the Week’ award! Keep those goals coming, Alaa...⚽⚽⚽👏🏻🔥
The NorthEast fans are excited to have the Moroccan on their team as he has already proved himself to be one of the best signings this season. Alaeddine Ajaraie may equal the record of Delhi Dynamos’ Kalu Uche who had set a record of scoring in eight straight matches in the 2017-18 season, which is the longest scoring streak by a player in ISL.
Having 9 goals scored already, Alaeddine Ajaraie may also become the highest goalscorer in a single season, surpassing Ferran Corominas and Bartholomew Ogbeche who both scored 18 goals in a single season.

Former Indian national football team captain Sunil Chhetri has expressed deep concern over the suspension of the Indian Super League and the future of India's footballing ecosystem.
“The current situation that Indian football finds itself in, is very concerning. I’ve received a flurry of texts from players, staff members, physios, masseurs - not just from my club, but from other clubs as well,” Chhetriwrote on his social media handle X (formerly Twitter).
When my phone went off a few weeks ago informing us of a delay in pre-season by a fortnight, I must admit it made me smile. And that’s because I was on vacation, hadn’t moved as much as I would have liked to, and hadn’t been eating as clean as I usually do. I had more time than I… pic.twitter.com/pEGyr8Sp5O

There is no new agreement between AIFF and FSDL
The 2025-26 season of the ISL has been put 'on hold' as the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and organising company Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) has not been renewed yet.
The Supreme Court has directed the AIFF not to enter into any new agreement with FSDL until a final decision is taken on the AIFF.
A 15-year agreement was signed in 2010
A 15-year agreement between FSDL and AIFF was signed in 2010, under which FSDL pays Rs 50 crore every year to AIFF in return for the rights to broadcast, manage and promote Indian football (including ISL and the national team).
Please stay calm - Chhetri
Sunil Chhetri appealed to all the players and support staff to maintain patience and support each other. He expressed confidence that football will resume soon. The AIFF has also said that it understands the importance of ISL, but it is compelled to follow the court's order.
“I may not have all the answers, but my message to all those involved with Indian football – and more importantly the ones whose livelihood depends on it, the players, staff, kitmen, masseurs, medical teams, production crews, operations staff – please stay calm.”
“We’ll ride this storm together. Stick together and look out for each other. Keep training and getting better. Football has to resume soon. It will,” Sunil Chhetri shared.
