Bryan Mbeumo and Ethan Pinnock scored as Brentford won 2-0 against Chelsea to triumph at Stamford Bridge for a record third season in a row. Mauricio Pochettino's home side dominated the first half but could not find the breakthrough with Noni Madueke going very close.
The Bees stole the game in the second half when Pinnock finished on Mbeumo's right-wing cross in the 58th minute. Chelsea tried for a draw but Mbeumo scored the second deep into stoppage-time to clinch the points.
There had been a sense that the Blues have started to turn around their season with three wins from four unbeaten matches after a horrible start to the new campaign.
Chelsea will next meet leaders Tottenham (a), Man City (H) and Newcastle (a) in the Premier League. Brentford climbed above Chelsea into 10th place with 13 points ahead of the weekend's action. The Blues are with 12 points and are sitting on the 11th position. Chelsea will now face Blackburn in the EFL Cup tie at home on Wednesday before visiting Tottenham next Monday. Brentford will host West Ham next Saturday.
